National Volunteer Month – Corporate Social Responsibility | North Woods Associates

The month of April is considered to be the National Volunteer Month. During this month companies implement and decide on a volunteer campaign, which will be beneficial for the company and inspire customers and employees.

It is common to see companies, customers and employees going out and volunteering. Through this, they are able to provide something beneficial to the environment and to the people.

Why should these companies implement such programs? Is it really worth the money, time and investment? Below are some of the facts about CSR or Corporate Social Responsibility and why it is important:

  • Almost 88% of millennials are attracted to work in companies that have CSR programs. In addition to that, 86 % would choose to leave if the CSR programs do not meet their expectations.
  • 50% of millennial employees who volunteer are loyal towards the business or company. They like it working there. They feel satisfied and contented with their employer, and they suggest or recommend the company to other people and friends.
  • According to Pulse Survey, the reputation of the company is basically determined by CSR or volunteering.
  • CSP increases collaboration among members of the company, from different walks of life. It also builds trust, teamwork, and confidence in each other.

Routes to Consider When Implementing Volunteer Activities

The following are some of the things that you might want to consider for your company’s volunteering activities:

  • Volunteer Awards

Volunteerism does not require any recognition for some; however, there are awarding bodies that honor such great efforts, such as the President’s Volunteer Service award. It was noted that AT&T had 4,288 employees, and the company received this award for their volunteering efforts. Before they were awarded, they also received a prestigious honor coming from the U.S. President. The national honor was earned because their employees volunteered more than 100 hours.

  • Gift Time to Every Employee Volunteering on His or Her Own

The employee volunteer program of Ben & Jerry is now celebrating its ten years of activism. The company’s almost 475 employees contributed 258 hours of their service. In addition to that, the company provides these employees with 40 hours of their paid day off. This took place every year with the local service providers.

The National Volunteer Month is strengthening corporate social responsibility. Volunteering also makes sense in the community and the environment. It makes a big difference and it creates a significant impact on the life and well-being of every individual.

During this month, it is necessary to inspire people and get out. It is about time to get involved and participate in the community. If you will do and support good intentions and acts in your company, think about everyone winning all throughout. All you people involved will make a living because of what you wholeheartedly give.
